Obituary for Donald A. Chamberlain

Donald A. Chamberlain, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Hunter's Glen in July 19, 2014. He was born April 14, 1923 in Pontiac, Michigan to Roy Cleve and Mable Irene (Linderman) Chamberlain.
At the age of 7, Don's family moved from Waterford, MI to the farm in Davisburg, MI. Don received his education in Davisburg and worked on his parents farm as well as learning the building trade with his father.
In the early part of World War II, Don worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant, building B24 bombers. He enlisted in the Marines and was assigned to the 24th regiment of the 4th Marine Division Fleet Marine Forces. Don participated in battles of Tinian, Marianas Islands, Saipan, and Marshall Islands as a sharp shooter.
After the war, Don returned home to Michigan to work with his father on the farm and home building projects. He also took flying lessons under the GI bill.
In the late 1940's Don married Barbara Beedle. They settled in Davisburg where they raised their family of four sons and one daughter.
When Don's father retired, Don formed the construction company, Don Chamberlain & Sons. With his sons, he built many homes, apartments, and businesses in the Davisburg, Holly, and Pontiac Areas.
Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and passed on his skills to his children. Their passion for hunting brought the Chamberlain family to Montana in 1968. They settled in the Clinton area where they built the family home and continued in the construction and excavation business.
In later years Don & Barb enjoyed spending part of their winters in Jackpot & Las Vegas. They also went down to Arizona to visit their children and grandchildren.
Don in preceded in death by his wife, Barb; brother, Fred; and two sisters, Betty and Barb. Don is survived by his sister, Sue; Daughter, Donnell Hansen; four sons, Ron (Deb) Chamberlain, Tom (Susan) Chamberlain, David Chamberlain, Roy (Cori) Chamberlain; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 @ 1PM. A Memorial Service will be held for both Don and Barb on August 17th, 2014 from 12PM-4PM at the Clinton Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on his behalf to your favorite charity.
