Diane Hilmo

May 16, 1952 — October 14, 2023

Diane Hilmo, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 14, 2023. Born on May 16, 1952, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, Diane was the daughter of Maurice and Dayett Johnson. She spent her early years in Montana and graduated from Columbia Falls High School.

Diane's journey in life took her on various paths, but one constant remained: her unwavering dedication to her loved ones. On February 10, 1973, she married the love of her life, Glen "Dusty" Hilmo at Fort Benning, Georgia. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that spanned for five remarkable decades.

From 1985 to 2000, Diane worked at Champion and Stimson lumber companies. In 2002, Diane courageously embraced entrepreneurship and started an embroidery business alongside her youngest son, Jeremy. They ran the business together until 2012.

Family was the focus of Diane's life. She cherished every moment spent with her three sons: Chad (Rena), Aric, and Jeremy. As a mother and grandmother, Diane enveloped her family with love and created countless cherished memories with them. Her four grandchildren were a constant source of joy in her life.

Diane had an insatiable love for books, finding solace and inspiration within their pages. Her home was filled not only with literature but also with the sound of laughter that echoed through every room. Her soul was nourished by the beauty of her flower beds – a testament to her nurturing spirit.

In addition to her immediate family members, Diane leaves behind a wide circle of loved ones who will deeply miss her presence in their lives. She is survived by Randi Kopp; Tom (Betty) Hilmo; Don Hilmo; her sisters Maureen (Gary) Wiltrout and Connie (Mark) Forbes; her brother Dayton (Katherine) Johnson, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Diane Hilmo touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her resilience, love, and compassion will forever be remembered as her bright spirit continues to shine through the memories she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.

To honor Diane's life, a private service was held by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Energy Share Montana or to Meals on Wheels, two organizations that were dear to Diane's heart.
