Delmer J. Vietz, 84 of Missoula, Montana passed away peacefully early the morning of September 30, 2021.
Delmer was born January 22, 1937 in Hebron, ND to Jake and Helen Vietz. Delmer, his parents and sister Carol moved to Missoula in 1949 and Delmer made his home here until the time of his death.
Delmer met Virginia “Ginger” Esche at Bethel Community Church and they married in 1964. To their union two children were born, David and Dena. Delmer was a hard worker, spending more than 25 years with the Missoula County Road Department, he operated heavy machinery and especially loved plowing snow. Delmer and Ginger enjoying traveling, visiting his sister on the Oregon Coast and taking cruises with Ginger’s sister Judy and her husband Derald. They were lucky enough to take two Alaskan cruises.
Other pastimes of Delmer were building model trains, he was especially proud of his HO train set and b a built a room in the home just to fit it. He also spent a fair amount of time enjoying Montana and the Bitterroot Mountains, fishing and target shooting with family. On Tuesday and Friday mornings you could often find him with his friends and a cup of coffee, talking about life.
Delmer is survived by his loving wife Virginia; his dear children: David and wife Kim Vietz of Spokane, WA and Dena Stubsten and her husband Shannon of Bozeman, MT; three cherished granddaughters Lauren, Hailey and Dani; his sister Carol Banhart and her husband Don of Coos Bay, OR; and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Judy Heath and her husband Derald.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded.
