Delmer Jacobson, 91, passed away Feb. 26, 2014 of natural causes surrounded by his loving family and his four furry friends.
Delmer was born May 16, 1922 to Austin and Flossie (Chapman) Jacobson in White Sulphur Springs, Mt. Growing up in the mountains around White Sulphur Springs he attended local schools and graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School. He met the love of his life, Joan Carpenter, the two later married and together they had four children.
Delmer went on to homestead at the ranch with his wife. He eventually moved on to mining in Livingston. He later went to work for the State of Montana in the Mining Division. After retiring from the State he lived on a ranch in Missoula and raised sheep.
His passion for snowmobiling and raising sheep kept him going and feeling young. He made his last trip on a sled in December with his family for a steak run. He was a member of snowmobile clubs for over 50 years. In his younger years he also enjoyed fly fishing.
Delmer loved taking drives in his spare time always wanting to visit new places. He was a loving dad, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved the farm life, being in the mountains and life with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, two daughters, and his brothers, Murel and Emery.
Delmer is survived by his sons; Burl, of Missoula and Bryan of Conrad, as well as 11 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 14, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
