Obituary for Dean Michael "Deano" Skrivseth

The peaceful valley welcomed Dean Michael Skrivseth, "Deano", on August 19, 2014 when he died suddenly at his home.
Dean was born on July 7, 1954 in Missoula to George B. and Violet B. Skrivseth, and was the second of three sons. He attended Central School in Missoula and graduated from Hellgate High School in 1972. After graduation, he spent four years as an apprentice in the Boilermakers Union earning his degree. He also worked several years in the construction industry as a welder. In June 1987, he was employed by Equipco, which serviced Washington Corporation's machinery. Continuing his education in computer science, he transferred to Washington Corporations in 2002 where he worked until his death.
Dean was loved and respected by family, friends, co-workers, and the community. He was known for his hard work, loyalty and willingness to help anyone in need. Dean was an intelligent man, a jack of all traits and a master of all. With his exceptional organizational skills, he established a system for scheduling equipment maintenance and also implemented the safety program, both are still used today at Washington Corporations.
On January 4, 1991, Dean married Janice Stensland and with love they raised their daughter, Olivia Claire. The family also loved to spend the holidays and summers with Dean's older daughter, Emily Ann, whom he had with his first wife. Both Jan and Dean loved adventure, and together they spent their spare time cross country skiing, biking and fishing. Dean also enjoyed downhill skiing, running, rafting, hunting and golfing. Being a gifted photographer, he chronicled the beauty and wonder he saw in the world around him. He was active in community affairs, charity, and fundraising events. As member of the Son's of Norway, he looked forward every year to eating lutefisk and lefse. Dean generously donated his time and money to organizations which championed those less fortunate. In addition, he was an ardent Grizzly fan and was one of the original members of the Boom Crew.
Dean was preceded in death by his mother, Violet. Dean is survived by his father George, his wife Jan, his daughters Emily and Olivia, and Emily's children, his granddaughters, Aria and Zya of South Carolina. As well, he is survived by his two brothers Lon (Deb) and Mark. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dean was a kind and generous spirit who left us much too soon. He will be remembered in our hearts as a wonderful husband, father, co-worker, and friend to all he met. Everyone he knew will recall his kindness and caring; always a helping hand and expected nothing in return. His keen sense of humor, his specialty being the "Skrivseth" humor, will also be missed. He was truly one of a kind.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to some of his favorite charities, including: Wounded Warrior Project, Camp Mak-A-Dream, Watson Children's Shelter, or the Special Olympics. A celebration of his life will be held for family, friends, co-workers and community members with whom he associated on August 28, 2014.
