Dean Thomas Jacobsen, 85, of Missoula, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Community Medical Center, of natural causes.
He was born on May 12, 1938, in Missoula to Peter and Martha Jacobsen, the youngest of 10 children. In 1942 the family moved from the ranch in Ovando to the Orchard Homes area where he attended Hawthorne Grade School and made many friends. He graduated in 1957 from Missoula County High School, the first class to graduate from the brand new facility on South Avenue, now Sentinel High School.
He married Yvonne Entzel on March 21, 1967, and spent the next 40 years together before her passing on November 15, 2007. Family gatherings and fishing around the state were favorite past-times.
Dean worked many different jobs before being hired at Evans Product in 1966, where he operated equipment in the log yard and the debarker in the mill. Evans Products suddenly closed in 1980, and Dean went to work for the City of Missoula Parks Department, again running equipment. He retired in 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Frank, Anton, Peter, Robert, Joseph, and Donald and his sisters Lucille James, Isabel' Schreckengust, and Betty Touchette
Survivors include his sisters in law, Adeline Jacobsen (Peter), and Del Rose Jacobsen (Joseph), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the Community Medical Center staff and Dean's friends at Burlington Square Apartments. His wit, humor, and remarkable memory will truly be missed. As per Dean's request, no services are planned.
