David William "Davey" Knoyle, 75, of Missoula, passed away at the Village Health Care Center on Saturday, March 7, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1939, in Butte, to David and Elizabeth Knoyle. He graduated from Missoula County High School, and attended the University of Montana, where he received a degree in psychology.
On Dec. 28, 1963, he married Mary Ann Cash. The couple lived in Missoula where he worked as an electrician until his retirement in 2000. They had three sons together, Dave, Greg and Jerry. Mary Ann passed away unexpectedly in 1971.
Davey married Lynda Edwards in 1974, and they raised their three young boys together. They later divorced.
Davey enjoyed bird hunting, skeet shooting, watching sports and entertaining friends. His New Year's Eve Bunco parties were a highlight. In later years, he developed a passion for golf, and spent his winters in Yuma, Arizona, where he met many treasured friends.
Davey was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife. He is survived by his sons, Dave Knoyle (Glenda) of Renton, Washington, Greg Knoyle (Traci) of Missoula and Jerry Knoyle (Ann) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; four siblings, Bob Knoyle (Judy) of Auburn, Washington, Judy Murray (Tom) of Worley, Idaho, Ed Knoyle (Yenna) of Haiku, Hawaii, and Karen Davaz (Dennis) of Livingston; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Carol Meisinger of Missoula; three grandchildren, Chase Knoyle of Missoula, and Carter and Riley Knoyle of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Per Davey's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or Missoula Aging Services.
