Darrel (Pete) Visser passed away at age 82 on Jan. 19, 2014, after a battle with Alzheimer's disease at the Edgewood Retirement home in Missoula.
Pete was born in Circle on Aug. 5, 1931, to Peter and Alvina Visser, one of five children. He began his career as a telephone engineer in 1952. He married Mildred Ann Haines in 1958 and they had one child, Connie Visser. Pete married Rose Marie Guizzo in 1979 and together they raised their four children, Donald, Deborah, Connie and Theresa in Missoula. Pete retired from the Blackfoot Telephone Co-Op after 15 years in 1992. And in 1994 Pete and Rose Marie built their dream home in Missoula where they lived and loved together for 20 rich years.
Pete gave his all to life. He was an ambitious man and a hard worker. His love of life and optimism energized everyone around him. He was a generous and devoted husband, father and friend and was well thought of by all his loved ones and neighbors.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Alvina Visser; his wife Mildred; his stepdaughter Deborah Guizzo; his sister Verna Yarger and his brother Harvey Visser.
He is survived by his wife Rose Marie of Missoula; his daughter Connie Birdwell (Les) of Missoula, grandchildren Heather and Amber and two great-grandchildren; his stepson Donald Guizzo of Austin, Texas; his stepdaughter Theresa Entzel of Reno, Nevada, and grandchildren Maria Renlund, Natasha Entzel and Timmy Entzel (serving in the U.S. Marines). Also Arlene Logan (Lavine) of Fairfield, Washington; his brother Del Visser (Jean) of Kalispell; his sister-in-law Sally Carlson of Missoula and 11 nieces and nephews.

Pete was cremated by Garden City Funeral Home.
He will be laid to rest at McCrae Cemetery in Leadore, Idaho, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m.
