; Daniel Frank Hoskinson, 59, of Missoula, passed away after a short battle with cancer Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.
He was born March 5, 1955, in Hayward, California, to William and Eva Hoskinson. He worked the majority of his life in the construction industry in California and Montana.
On Sept. 15, 1995, he married Christi (Crawford) Leasure in Salinas, California, and resided there until moving to Montana in October 1999 with their three children.
Dan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he spent much of his time working with youth primarily in the Scouting program. Although his job as a carpenter and project superintendent took its obvious toll on his body, he said it afforded him the opportunity to aid many young men in their goal to become Eagle Scouts and many other young men a summer job to earn money for their LDS missions.
Dan loved the outdoors, especially fishing, which due do a hectic work schedule he did not get to partake in very often over the past couple of years despite being surrounded in our beautiful state by so many rivers. We are sure that after greeting loved ones who have gone before him, this will be his first order of business.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother, Eva; three brothers, Joey Loud, Richard Loud and David Loud; and one sister, Eva (Angie) Cattoor.
He is survived by his wife, Christi of Missoula; three sons, Robert Harris Hoskinson of Newman, California, Ryan Hoskinson of Missoula and Joshua Hoskinson of Missoula; one daughter, Danielle Hoskinson of Missoula; one grandson, Robert Harris of Newman; three brothers, Bill Hoskinson of Yosemite, California, Dale Hoskinson of Fremont, California, and Doug Hoskinson of Fairfield, Idaho; three sisters, Carol (Hoskinson), Edith (Jim) Bellamy of Glendale, Oregon, and Barbara (Jim) Stearns of St. George, Utah; and various cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebratory memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the LDS Chapel, 3050 South Ave. W. (across from Big Sky High School). Bring your smiles and humorous stories and memories with you as Dan was adamant about the atmosphere he wanted at his service.
