Daniel Hagestad

September 30, 1942 — April 15, 2025

Daniel “Dan” R. Hagestad, 82, passed away of natural causes Tuesday, April 15th, 2025. He was born on September 30th, 1942, in Missoula to Wally and Eleanor Hagestad. As a boy he lived in Missoula until moving to Puyallup, Washington in 1956 to 1959 where he attended high school and played baseball, basketball, and tennis. In 1960 he moved back to Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School.

 He was a member of the Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970 and in 1972 he married Connie Wiege in Missoula. He worked as an Insurance agent and retirement planning specialist from 1972 until his passing.

Dan enjoyed fly fishing with friends, golfing, bowling, softball, watching the New York Yankees and spending time with his family. He played competitive fastpitch softball, slow pitch softball and competed in multiple golf leagues and tournaments. He was the city bowling secretary for 25 years, he won the state bowling team event in 1964, and the individual state bowling all events championship in 1984. He won the Larchmont low net championship in 2010 and in 2022 he was inducted into the Montana Bowling Hall of Fame.

For his 80th birthday he went to Yankee stadium for the first time with his son and eldest grandson after 60 years of being a fan. He was involved with the UM foundation million-dollar roundtable, the United Way, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters charity bowling events. 

A loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. He lived his life with a spirit that always put others first and his resolute trust in God’s plan will continue to be a light to all. 

Preceding him in death were his Father, Mother and sister Debbie. Survivors include his wife, Connie; his son Regan Hagestad and his wife Laura. Four Sisters, Pattie Superneau, Carole Maier, Angel Brester, and Collette Irvine. Four grandchildren, Rhett Hagestad, Claire Hagestad, Rylee Hagestad and Wyatt Hagestad. 

Private services will be held on Friday April 25th. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider donations to the Missoula Mavericks Baseball Program in honor of Dan.
