Daniel George Sleeping Bear, 74, of Missoula, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at 12:45 a.m. at his home of natural causes.
He was born on April 8, 1941, in Hays to Joseph and Josephine Sleeping Bear.
While Daniel was never married, he did have a special relationship with Lilly Lodge and loved her daughters, Gloria and Lita, as his own. As an uncle, he also had very close relationship with his nieces and nephews.
He grew up loving ranch work, had a contagious grin, was a brother and uncle that everyone loved and was a damn good cook. He loved taking drives, being outside and people watching at McCormick Park.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister Caroline Lamere and brothers Mickey and Raymond Sleeping Bear.
Survivors include brother Stanley Sleeping Bear; sisters Celia Ann LaPier and Florine Turnbough; daughters Gloria and Lita Lodge; and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will take place Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at the Catholic Cemetery in St. Ignatius. A celebration of his life to follow at Boettcher Park in Polson.
