Dana J. Baumgardner, 58, passed away on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital. Dana was born on Nov. 7, 1958 to Jim and Dolly Baumgardner in Missoula. Dana was the second of three children.
Dana grew up in Missoula and graduated from Sentinel High School in 1977. Dana worked for Albertson's and later moved to Walla Walla, Washington where he worked with his brother, Lance. While in Walla Walla, Dana married and had three children, Andreas and twins, Andrew and Austin. He later divorced and returned to his hometown of Missoula.
Upon returning to Missoula, Dana met the love of his life, Vicki Denim. Dana and Vicki spent many happy years together. Dana had a love for Montana and the great outdoors. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and anything else that took him outside. Dana was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed making wagers on various games with his Dad and brother, Lance.
Dana was able to retire at a young age and enjoyed spending time with Vicki at his home. He enjoyed raising cattle and working on his 3 and 4 wheelers. Dana had a great sense of humor and spent many hours perfecting jokes and gag gifts.
Dana was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Dolly Baumgardner, grandparents Jake and Katie Baumgardner and Earl and Wavie Charlton, several aunts and uncles, his nephew Baby Jake Baumgardner and his beloved dogs Shasta and Credence.
Survivors include Vicki, his children Andreas (Chance) Landon of Waterville, Washington, Andrew (Micheala Weber) of North Pole, Alaska, and Austin of Walla Walla, Washington; grandchildren Paislee, Korrd and Kash Landon and Atticus Baumgardner; his brother Lance (Becky) and sister Shanna (Jim) Featherman, nephews Justin (Libby) Miller, Matthew (Kelly) Baumgardner, Daniel, Jordan (Kendra) and Taylor Featherman, aunts, uncles and cousins, Vic Demin and his precious dog, Dancer.
Dana loved animals, especially dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Humane Society of Western Montana, 5930 U.S. Highway 93 South, Missoula, MT 59804.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences can be left for the family at gardencityfh.com.
