Obituary for Dallas Marler

On Sunday July 23rd our beloved husband, papa and “Grandpa Great” Dallas Marler peacefully left this world surrounded by his family at age 86. Parkinsons and cancer finally won the battle.
Dallas Ralph Marler was born to James and Margaret Marler, June 25th, 1931.
He grew up on the family farm in Dazey, ND. He graduated Salutatorian from Dazey High School in 1949.
In 1951 he joined the Army eventually ending up serving in the Korean War.
Dallas worked the oil fields in ND, underground and open pit mining in Butte, and many years building the interstates and highways around MT. He was an avid fisherman and a wonderful family man. He spent many hours telling stories of days past to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a knack for knowing the exact dates of these stories.
In 1957 he married Nancy Forgarty of Butte, MT. This November would have marked 60 years of marriage! They lived in Drummond for 43 years, moving to Missoula in 2012 to be close to family. They have 4 children, 14 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nancy, their children Rick (Cindy), Mark (Sam), Polly (Gary) Knuchel, Son-in-law Greg Stavish and Brother Allen (Betty) Marler. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings, infant grandson Joshua and daughter Lori Stavish.
The family would like to thank Partners Home Health/ Hospice and Hestia In-Home Support for the wonderful care that was given to Dad, and also Mom, during the last 9 months. You all have impacted their lives greatly. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either of these or charity of your choice or take your grandchildren fishing.
Services will be Monday July 31, 2017 at 10am at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula, MT with reception to follow. Condolences can be left for the family at www.gardencityfh.com.
Rest in Peace Big D…See you soon…..Jus Me!
