Obituary for Constance Jean Nagy (Gibbons)

Connie passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015. She was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Butte to Fern (Stahl) and Vincent Gibbons, the oldest of three children. Connie lived her whole life in and around Alberton. After graduating from high school in 1961, she married William Nagy Jr. in 1962. Little Ricky was born that year, followed by Coleen in '65 and Patrick in '69. Connie loved being a mother and homemaker. She wanted another child, so she and Bill adopted Tonya in 1978. Her family was her life.

Not that it slowed her down much, but the only distraction from her family focus was the onset of Parkinson's disease, which she then struggled with for over 30 years. Connie came from bull-headed stock, but proved to be the toughest of them all. Ever hopeful and always pleasant, she faced many bleak days without complaint. In the final stages of the disease which took away her mobility and threatened her mind, her response to inquiries about the state of her health came quick and upbeat (both humorously and sardonically) she'd say, "Couldn't be better."

Connie has earned a well-deserved rest, but she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her for her kind heart, that lethal eye, a remarkable sense of humor and never-say-die attitude. None more so than her husband of 53 years, Bill or "Butch," who was also her primary caregiver for the last decade. Connie is also survived by her brothers, Colin (Glenda) and Mark (Pam) Gibbons; and her children, Rick (Bonnie) Nagy, Coleen (Dan) Hanley, Pat (Lillian) Nagy and Tonya (Doriel) Olds. Her grandchildren were her greatest joys. She wanted to be there for them always, and she always will be.

The family would like to thank Connie's home caregivers, Sandy and Amber, for their loving care. There will be no services at Connie's request. A family gathering will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Partners in Homecare Hospice or the Mineral Community Center.
