Colleen Jean Jones went to be with our heavenly father and her beloved husband Wayne on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.
She was born in Elyria, Ohio, on Sept. 1, 1942, and was a survivor of polio at age 6. She was laid to rest at the early age of 71 from lung cancer at her ranch home in the Ninemile Valley. Colleen was not alone; she was surrounded by close friends from her community and her loving daughter, Angela.
She graduated from Elyria High School, married her high school sweetheart and started a family.
She worked for plant equipment, Amatex, in California and retired in the Ninemile Valley. She enjoyed traveling by motorcycle, taking trips in the motor home with Wayne, reading, gardening and just staying busy. She also played an active role in the community by serving on the Ninemile Community CTRâ,**Board. She also did the dust abatement and took part in the Ninemile Christian Fellowship Church and the Ladies Garden Club.
Colleen has touched so many lives and hearts of all of those she has met and helped over the years.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela A. (Jones) Velkov and husband R. Alan; son, Wayne P. Jones Jr.; grandchildren, Krista M. Velkov, Leslie A. Velkov, Krystal L. Jones, Virgel W. Velkov, Wayne P. Jones III and Zachery I. Jones; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Rowland; brother, Larry Westcott (Tammy); nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, PoJo.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Sean Velkov; husband, Wayne; sisters, Nancy Rhoadhamel and Maude Westcott; and her parents.
Aâ,**memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Frenchtown Community Church.
