Clayton Eugene Schnase, 20 months and four days old, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, in Missoula. He was born June 4, 2013, in Missoula to Brandyn Marshall Ross Schnase and Charlotte Rhona Schnase.
Clayton was such a happy boy; he smiled all the time and warmed the hearts of all he had the pleasure of meeting. He was an explorer, but thorough to investigate the situation before wholeheartedly heading in.
For being only 20 months, he seemed so advanced for his age. It was mentioned several times that when he looked at you, his eyes could look into your soul. He had an indescribable awareness of everything he encountered.
His favorite things to do included playing with his dogs, taunting the cats and being outside. He was always helping Mommy around the house: pushing the buttons to do laundry, mopping where Mommy had missed and putting his dishes in the sink. He loved to sing with Mommy, and tromp around the house in every shoe he could find. His Grandma Leah's house was also a place of adventure for him.
Mommy was comfort for him, but he wanted to be just like Daddy. Anything that Daddy did Clayton would mimic the best he could. He helped Daddy build the patio behind the house and was thrilled watching him work his chainsaw.
He will be missed by all, even though a part of our hearts have left with him. We are comforted by knowing that his soul will only ever know love. Fortunately, he will never have the opportunity to fall into sadness or anger, since he only knew happiness in his life at his tender age. Celebrate that he was here and can now watch over us all.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Kenneth Eugene Schnase and aunt Sheena Rae Schnase.
Clayton is survived by his father Brandyn; mother Charlotte; little brother Colter Ross Schnase, due the end of June; paternal grandfather Hugh Holmes and grandmother Tori Holmes and their children; Clayton's aunts and uncle, Alyssa Holmes, Kenny Holmes and Annika Holmes; paternal grandfather Richard Snider, his wife Chris and their son Trace Snider; maternal grandmother Leah Larsen; and several other great aunts and uncles and cousins, along with honorary members of the family too numerous to count.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at Garden City Funeral Home with Chaplin Matthew Eddy officiating. Reception to follow.
