A larger than life individual, Clayton D. Floyd, Jr. was born in Durango, Colorado, on Dec. 30, 1947, to Clayton and Betty Floyd. He grew up in Missoula, graduating in the first class of 1966 from Hellgate High School. He attended the University of Montana following high school. Clayton then went on to marry his longtime high school sweetheart in 1967, Paulette Geesey. They had their one and only child, daughter, Lora Sue. Clayton joined the U.S. Army Special Forces in late 1967. His Special Forces career was most dear to his heart, creating lifelong friendships.
He went into the insurance business, eventually building his own agency in 1984, that lasted up until his untimely passing. He is survived by his wife Paulette; daughter Lora and grandsons, Connor and Koh; his sister Marilyn Sue and two brothers, Larry and Tom, several nieces and nephews and last but not least, his sweet dog, Coco.
Some of his passions throughout his life included politics, holding office on both Missoula and Stevensville city councils, hunting with his buddies and spending time at the cabin in the East Fork of the Bitterroot. He passed into our Father's arms surrounded by his loving family due to complications from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016.
The family requests any memorials go to the Bitterroot Humane Society. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Garden City Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences and memories may be left for the family at missoulafuneralhomes.com.
