Obituary for Claudine Spencer

Claudine Spencer's circle of life began 94 years ago on Dec. 13, 1919, in Colfax, Washington. The circle ended Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Village Health Care.

Claudine spent 50 years in the Marysville and Arlington, Washington, area. She was a volunteer for many years at Everett Hospital. She raised money for the Children's Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle.

Claudine was a Camp Fire Girl for eight years. She was the leader of Camp Fire for 10 years. She volunteered as an officer of three PTAs in the same year! She was a member and an officer of Grange. She has enjoyed swimming and water exercising. Her hobbies included needlework projects by crocheting, knitting, needlepoint and embroidery.

Claudine was a travel enthusiast. She was a member of the Mountain West Bank, Missoula Summit Club travel group. She especially enjoyed her trip Thailand and Bali. She visited all of the state capitols and all of the Canadian provinces.

Claudine was married for 53 years to Ed Spencer. Her three children are Ted Spencer and JoAnne Stewart of Missoula and Jim Spencer of California. Her grandchildren are Amy (Randy) Stemple and Nick (Buffie) Stewart. Great-granddaughters are Katy and Lindsay Stemple.

Claudine was a Red Hat member for 10 years. She lived at the Clark Fork Riverside for 12 years. She appreciated Rod and Heather Foster, the lunch bunch and winning at bingo and pinochle. Her last months were spent at Village Health Care.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at JoAnne Stewart's, 1200 Lakeside Drive, Lolo.
