Christi Ana Forest was placed in her parents' arms Aug. 10, 1980, in Boulder, Colorado. Christi passed at home in her parents' arms Jan. 28, 2016.
In her early years she was a modern dancer, flutist, sprinter, skier, biker and swimmer. Christi loved life and she was a loyal friend and companion to many. Her life took a different path after her freshman year at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. On May 13, 1999, she was in a single-car rollover accident. Christi had a 1 percent change of survival, but her will to live, healthy body and tenacity enabled her to survive and enjoy life with her family for over 16 years.
In that time Christi was able (with adaptations and assistance) to dance, do yoga, cross country ski, swim, run and be a part of the Missoula Marathon, ride a bike around town, participate in the Diva Run, and whitewater rafting. Christi was able to enjoy movies, books, plays and concerts. Many wonderful individuals made it possible for her to have a full, happy life.
A Celebration of the Life of Christi Ana Forest will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Ten Spoon Winery. We encourage friends, caregivers, therapists and peers to come give a final toast to Christi. A family service will be held this summer in the Black Hills. Memorials can be made to the Christi Forest Scholarship Program, 116 Applehouse Lane, Missoula, MT 59802. The scholarship program will provide funding for people with disabilities to exercise and recreate.
