After a five-year fight with metastatic breast cancer, Cheryl Ann Burmeister (Rosebraugh) has joined her son Frank in heaven where they will, as Frank would say, "get this party started" and prepare heaven for our arrival. Mom was born Oct. 9, 1955, in Tucson, Arizona, to Eloise Reeves and Albert Rosebraugh. She was raised as an only child with her mom Eloise after Albert passed away when she was 5 years old.
In the desert of Palm Springs, California, Cheryl rode horses and played with her cousin, Bonnie. She graduated in 1973 from Palm Springs High School and moved to Santa Monica, California, to enroll in fashion design school. In 1977, Mom gave birth to little Frankie. As a young mom, she moved him to the beaches of Antigua where he spent his third birthday. In 1981, Mom moved to Seeley Lake to be a hippie and live off the land, where she met the love of her life, Roger Burmeister. If you ask Mom, she would say Dad fell in love with Frankie first and later fell for her, but Dad says it was an equal love for both of them. Thirty-four years later, Dad was just as in love with her as the day they met.
In 1982 they had another son, Rory Burmeister, and in 1985 I came along, her daughter, Sierra. She said she told God that if he gave her another son she would leave, so she believed I was the first of many answered prayers. In 1990, Mom found a small church in Seeley Lake called Faith Chapel, where she began her relationship with Jesus. Her faith remained to the very end of her life – the strongest of anyone I know. She truly believed in a miracle and she received it when she lived five years longer than most doctors said she would.
Mom was made to love other people, and she poured her whole life into her kids and nine grandkids. If you were lucky enough to know her, you would know that she despised small talk, could get anyone to tell her their whole life story and truly loved unconditionally. Mom would say she never figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up, or that she didn't figure out what her true passion was. Her true calling was to bring humor and depth into the lives of everyone she knew. Mom's greatest accomplishment in life was being the fun Nannie to her nine grandkids. She enjoyed taking them camping, baking cookies and having sugar induced sleepovers.
In 2002 she lost Frankie in a car accident and now she finally gets to be reunited with her little boy. Mom is survived by her husband, Roger Burmeister; son, Rory Burmeister and wife Krystal; daughter, Sierra Farmer and husband David; daughter and son-in-law, Carla Squires and Andrew; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Denise Burmeister; niece, Ava; and sister, Diane Klein. She has nine beautiful grandbabies (Tristan, Cade, Isaiah, Lily, Jada, Sophie, Olive, Marshall and Willie) and amazing friends and family. Mom will be sorely missed by all of us, but she is now floating on the clouds of endless deep conversations, laughter and tangerines.
A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Clark Fork City Church. We welcome anyone who would like to celebrate her life with us. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a donation towards Team Up Montana, a local foundation that helped Mom during her five-year battle. Messages of condolences may be sent to missoulafuneralhomes.com. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
