FRENCHTOWN – Charles Weir "Chuck" Walter, of Frenchtown, passed peaceful away at his home on Saturday, June 22, 2013, of natural causes. Chuck was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Portland, Ore., to Gertrude and Charles Walter. Chuck attended Valley City College in Van Nuys, Calif., where he earned his A.A. in metallurgy. Chuck was an exceptional woodworker, spending many hours in his garage on various projects.
Chuck retired after 27 dedicated years of service from Valley Todeco, of Sylmar, Calif., where he perfected his metallurgical skills while serving as chairman of the United Auto Workers 509. Upon retirement, Chuck and Lynn moved to Frenchtown in March 2004.
Chuck loved his wife, Lynn, his family, friends, old movies and his passel of pets. He also loved Montana. Chuck will be remembered for his exceptional joke- and storytelling ability, his infectious laugh and his extraordinary compassion.
He was preceded in death by his son, Keith; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; son, Robert Eugene (Nellie); stepdaughters, Cyndi (Ron) and Sue (Joe); grandchildren, Matthew, Austin, Emily and Trisha; and cousins, Steven, Tim, Kevin and Kathy.
