July 21 1948-June 10, 2015
Chuck passed away in his home due to natural causes. Chuck had been living out his retirement years in the home he had built and raised his family in in St Regis.
Chuck was the second of five siblings born to Fred and Peggy Myers. He was born in Whitefish in 1948 and attended schools in Columbia Falls, Okenagan Washington, Conrad and Sunburst, ultimately graduating as salutatorian from Clark Fork High School in Clark Fork, Idaho. Chuck was very active in extracurricular activities, lettering in football, track and field, as well as playing trumpet and French horn in the school band. A young Chuck was known for his musical talents, always having a harmonica handy to play and sing.
Following high school, Chuck attended one year of College in Lewiston, Idaho, before joining the Army in 1968. Chuck went to basic training in Fort Lewis and was a sergeant in the mechanized infantry spending one year in Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star for bravery in combat. Chuck later did the remainder of his three years of service in Germany.
After the military, Chuck completed his education at Western Montana College in Dillon and then got his first teaching job at St. Ignatius High School as a math teacher and coach in football and wrestling. While teaching there, he met his wife of 30 years, Connie. Chuck and Connie traveled to Alaska where they taught and started a family: Timothy C. Myers, born 1978, and Gregory F. Myers, born in 1981.
In 1981, Chuck and Connie traveled to Montana, where he made his permanent home in St. Regis. Chuck eventually completed his master's of education from the University of Montana and taught mathematics at St. Regis High School. Chuck was active as an athletic director as well as coach, coaching volleyball, wrestling, track and field, and football. After 25 years as a high school teacher, Chuck retired to work as an adjunct math professor at UM.
Chuck spent the last couple of years living out his retirement as a neighbor and involved with family as family life was important to him. That teaching spirit never left him as he was often a tutor to his grandchildren as well as neighborhood children. Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Ben Myers; and sister, Lorna Swan.
His is survived by his son, Gregory of Denver; ex-wife, Connie of Vista, California; son and daughter-in-law, Tim Myers and Yoko Ichimura and two grandchildren of Missoula; sister, Peggy Young and brother-in-law Randy Young of Conrad; brother, Pat Myers of Woodburn, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
