MISSOULA - Charles Jewell, 46, known to friends as Hoss and his family as Charlie, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Monday, December. 29, 2008.
Born October. 29, 1962, in San Jose, Calif., to John and Betty Jewell, the family later moved to Hamilton, then to Missoula, where he attended Russell Grade School and Hellgate High.
In 1988, his daughter, Nichole Marie Hill, was born. In 1996, he met Theresa Murphy and realizing that they were each other’s strength, the two were married on July 10, 1998.
He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family as long as he could watch his Monday Night Wrestling. He looked forward to hunting season when he could get out there in the wild with his father-in-law and then come back and tell their tales. More often than not, these tales were the only sort of game that Hoss returned home with. (He gave a whole new meaning to “shooting the bull.”) He also enjoyed spending time at the home of his good friend Brent, helping him to finish carving projects. Hoss was excited that for Christmas one year he was able to surprise Theresa with a Mickey carving that he and Brent had worked on.
His most recent pride and joy is his granddaughter Nakayla, whom he loved to just sit and hold.
He was employed at the Missoula C’mon Inn, where everyone there was like a second family. After his stroke in 2006, Theresa did not have to worry when Hoss returned to work because all the ladies at the C’mon Inn looked after him.
Chuck leaves behind his wife Theresa and step-daughter Jordann; daughter Nichole and granddaughter Nakayla; mother and father-in-law Tim and Vicki Randles; sister and brother-in-law Nicole and David Barnett; special Aunt Vonnie and Uncle Gene Nulliner; good friends Brent and Joanna Rogers; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January. 3, at Hope Baptist Church, 7498 Zaugg Drive, Missoula. Reception will follow the service at the C’mon Inn off Reserve Street.
Chuck was most comfortable in his jeans, “nice shirt” and hat. Please wear your jeans! He didn’t want anyone to dress up, so just dress comfortably.
