Our loving Lord took him home! Charles Lloyd Cheetham, 90, of Missoula, went to his final resting place on March 16, 2014, while at The Village Health Care Center.
He was born on February 8, 1924, in Medford, Oregon, to Charles and Esther Cheetham. He grew up on a ranch in Waucondo, Washington. Later on he went to Ketchikan, where he began working on the dam, and also where he met the love of his life, Mardelle Thomas. They married in Seattle in 1943, and travelled back to Ketchikan to work with his father-in-law. From Ketchikan, he went back to Waucondo, where he went into the logging and lumber mill business with his brothers. They moved back to Seattle, and he started working in the elevator industry. He also enjoyed his horses! He owned CCFarms in Maple Valley, where he bred, and raced his thoroughbreds at Longacres. During this time, he also started working on the Alaska pipeline. After he finished the pipeline, he became an elevator inspector for Washington state, where he worked until he retired. As he was an adventurer, he moved back over to Montana to enjoy traveling!
They spent a lot of time using their motorhome, traveling to 16 different states with Vernie and Leif. He so enjoyed the fishing trips to Alaska, where he fished with Bob and Leif (his brothers-in-law)! He also enjoyed the sunshine, visiting Mexico and Maui. The rest of the time he enjoyed spending with his very large, extended family!
He was preceded in death by two of his sons, Tom (Deb), Thompson Falls, and Randy, Thompson Falls. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mardelle, Missoula; son Jon (Janet) Lake Tapps, WA, and daughter, Lyn (Bob)Sheedy, Laguna Woods, CA. He had two grandchildren, Jodi (Bryan) Hershberger, Maple Valley, WA, and Ryan (Carrie) Cheetham, Auburn, WA. He was blessed with five great grandchildren: Stephanie, Elaina, and Hannah Cheetham, and Blake and Ashlyn Hershberger. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
We will be having a memorial and celebration of his life for him at the family farm in Thompson Falls, officiated by his grandson, Ryan. The date has not been set yet.
Our family would like to thank our guardian "angels" for their very special help during this past year, Pam Peterson and Joan Cook.
