Charles "Charlie" Baumann

Charles "Charlie" Baumann died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep from an undetected heart condition. Charlie was born in Bogota, Colombia, to Werner and Isabel Baumann on June 13, 1950.

Charlie and Linda married in Chicago in 1979 and moved to Eureka, Calif. He began his career with Safeway Stores in 1981. He moved to Missoula in 1993. He currently worked at Safeway on Reserve Street. A dedicated, hardworking man, he also worked part-time at Beach Transportation.

Charlie was an avid Chicago Bears fan, loved traveling, rock 'n' roll and relaxing in the sun on a warm summer day. Most of all, he cherished time spent with family and was always there to guide, support and make life joyful with his unique sense of humor.

Charlie is survived by wife, Linda; daughters, Becky (Steve) of Chicago and Megan (Matt) of Missoula; sons, Brian (Lisa) and Kevin (Sarah) of Chicago and Christopher (Abi) of Missoula; parents, Werner and Isabel; sisters, Isabel, Mariann and Ida (Art); brother, Walt (Cheryl), all of Chicago and brother-in-law Rick of Boise; nephew, Kyle of Chicago; grandfather, Joseph of Missoula; grandchildren, Kaylee, Gabrielle, Kingsley, Riley, Dylan, Morgan and Bailie.

A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Red Willow Center, 825 W. Kent Ave. in Missoula. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. Please come and share your hearts with us.
