Charles Bassett

March 25, 1954 — January 10, 2025

Charles Anthony Bassett, aged 70, passed away on January 10th, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, friend, volunteer, co-worker, and neighbor.

Chuck was born on March 25th, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. He graduated from Lane Tech High School and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Architecture was his passion, profession, and expertise. He started his career in fine home design; after mastering that, he moved to public school renovations, and finally specialized in architecture for those with disabilities.

Chuck was always an active member of his community. He chose to spend his time volunteering at the Missoula Food bank, the Missoula Carousel, Montana Brain Injury Alliance, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

He enjoyed the arts and spent his time improving his painting, drawing, and musical skills.

In his spare time, he would read, practice Tai Chi, take naps, and crack jokes.

Above all, his number one passion was spending time with his wife and trying to make their community a better place for all the kids growing up around them.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Mary Jo Kuenster, his father Lyman Bassett, and his mother Dolores Bassett. He is survived by his children Elliot, Thomas, and Steve Bassett, as well as his brother Larry Bassett and sister Wendy Bassett.

A Visitation will be held for family and friends on Sunday, January 19th, from 12-2pm at Garden City Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Missoula Food Bank, or the Brain Injury Alliance of Montana.
