Charles Boyden "Chuck" Anderson Jr. was called home by the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013 at the age of 76.
Chuck is predeceased by his father, Charles Boyden Anderson Sr.; mother Arlemine Leontine Stillwell Anderson; stepmother Rose Platzer Anderson and children, Jamie and Joel Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Anderson, of 33 years. They were married in St. Paul, Minn., on April 1, 1980. He is lovingly remembered by seven children and 14 grandchildren, Germaine and Rayce Price (Shawn and Ryan), Terry and Becky Havelka (Zach and Josh), Todd Havelka and Denise Huey (Taylor, Kelsey and Peter), Char and Mike Solberg (Grace, Charlie and Rose), Chris and Sonja Anderson (Keira and Tamir), Chad Anderson, Charlie III and Sheila Anderson (Charlie IV and Sophia).
Born in Berkeley, Calif., on Dec. 18, 1936, Chuck graduated from Alameda High School in 1953. Stationed in Hawaii, he served three years in the Army where he learned to surf and his love of water began. With an amazing work ethic and being an entrepreneur at heart, he started Anderson Party Supplies out of a two-car garage and turned it into a booming business.
Chuck enjoyed working both with his hands and his mind. As a skilled craftsman, he became a member of the Knifemakers' Guild in 1980. When he wasn't making knives, he enjoyed crafting furniture, creating handmade pens, building train layouts, and producing other wood artistries. When he wasn't in his shop, he loved either the mountains or the water. When he wasn't cruising the ocean or fishing for marlin in the Bahamas on one of his yachts, he was filming elk or bighorn sheep in the middle of the rut in Yellowstone or Rocky Mountain national parks. He also loved building houses and playing his favorite card game, Wizard. But of all, his favorite thing to do was be with his sweetheart and the love of his life, Judy.
Those who knew Chuck have described him as loving, generous, funny, iconic, gifted, smart, Godly, true, down to earth, and a big teddy bear. He will be loved and missed, but never forgotten.
