Charlene Meinzen, 62, of Missoula passed away Monday, October 25, 2021 at home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Garden City Funeral Home with viewing at 12:00 p.m.. Burial will follow at the New St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family invites attendees to a reception following the committal service in the community room at Garden City Funeral Home.
Charlene Irene Meinzen, daughter of William and Betty (Mathisen) Carver, was born June 18, 1959 in Missoula. She met her high school sweetheart, Larry Meinzen, her junior year and the couple was united in marriage on August 18, 1978 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Missoula. Charlene worked at the First Security Bank for over 30 years, she was a loan processer for a majority of her career.
Charlene and Larry were dedicated Griz fans and loved attending the football games with their season tickets. She loved the outdoors and the many weekends spent at the family cabin. Charlene always had a fascination with the moon encouraging her children and grandchildren to gaze at it from the deck. She enjoyed riding in the side by side and playing games on her phone. She had a fighting spirit and was a breast cancer survivor. Most of all, Charlene loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 43 years, Larry Meinzen; children, Molly (Cody) Lakey; Emily (Josh) Edmondson; grandchildren, Sciley Lakey; Shaylyn Lakey; Mia Bailey and one on the way; one great grandchild is also on the way; siblings, Georgana Yahvah; Andrea (Kevin) Price; Bill Carver, Jr.; Thomas (Kimberly) Carver; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Betty Carver.
