The family and friends of Cecily Mary (nee Koch) Wright mourn the sudden loss of a sister, aunt, great aunt and loving companion. She died after a heart attack on Monday, May 1, 2017, two days before her 72nd birthday.
Cecily grew up on a farm surrounded by animals in Ritzville, Washington. She attended Ritzville grade school. After moving with her family to Walla Walla in 1959, she attended St. Paul's School for Girls and later graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1963.
After high school, Cecily pursued her love of travel and adventure. She worked at various jobs while touring the United States. A history buff, she loved Charlottesville, Virginia, visiting Monticello and Shenandoah National Park. Later she attended Saint Xavier University in Chicago, graduating with a B.A. degree in Business Administration. After college Cecily worked as a production line manager for General Foods.
In retirement, Cecily moved to Missoula to be closer to the great outdoors, family and friends. Active in retirement, Cecily helped serve food to the homeless at the Missoula Poverello Center, volunteered at: the Missoula Public Library, the Missoula Food Bank and the Missoula Senior Citizen Center.
Cecily was preceded in death by her husband Darold Wright. She is survived by her brother, Keith Koch of Missoula, and sisters, Mary Campbell and Gretchen de Grasse of Walla Walla. She is also survived by three nephews, a niece and several great nephews and nieces.
A lifelong animal lover, her favorite charities are the Missoula Humane Society and AniMeals. AniMeals, among other activities, gives pet food to disadvantaged people living on fixed incomes who struggle to provide food for their pets whose companionship provides "friendship, joy and a reason for living."
Family and friends who wish to make a gift in Cecily's memory, can make a donation to one of her favorite charities, or to one of the donor's choice.
