MISSOULA - Cecil Robert Owen, 85, of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at St. Patrick Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Cecil was born May 14, 1923, in Terry, to William and Lucy Owen. The family moved to Polson where Cecil spent his school years, graduating from Polson High School in 1941. After graduation, he began working for the county and continued employment with the State of Montana.
On November. 28, 1954, he married Lois Jean Hough in Forsyth. They resided in many Montana locations as he pursued his career with the Department of Transportation. He continued his land surveying business after retirement.
Cecil was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Southside Lion’s Club, life member of the Masonic Order and the Shriner’s. He held many offices in the Lion’s Club including district governor and international representative.
Survivors include his wife Lois and son Jay, both of Missoula.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ross, Dick and Malcolm; and one sister, Ruth.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies.
The family suggests memorials be made in Cecil’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
