Obituary for Carter William Dickinson

Carter, 63, of Missoula, died at home, in the early morning hours of July 6, in the arms of and surrounded by loving family and friends.

He was born September 27th, 1954 in Palo Alto, CA, to Britta and Roger Dickinson. He was blessed with 2 brothers (Curt and Kevin) and 1 sister (Karin). He grew up in the Bay Area when there were still orchards in between the towns of Los Altos, Mtn. View and Palo Alto, and it was a curvy, windy, beautiful ride from there to Santa Cruz over the mountains on Highway 9, which he loved. Carter moved to Hamilton, Montana in 1989 where he met, courted and fell in love with Lisa, who he married in 1995. They moved to Missoula shortly thereafter.

Carter worked many places, including Ravalli Services Store, Carmike (AMC) Theaters and Jeanette Rankin Peace Center, where he met many friends. He was a bright spirit for all who met him and he brought such sweetness, love and compassion to the workplace and the world. Everyone who met or worked with Carter loved him immediately.

Carter enjoyed music, traveling, Sunday drives, family, boat cruises, good food, quality time with family and friends, nature, sunshine, his little doggies Ben and Scooby, all classic rock music and of course life.

Carter was preceded in death by his mom and dad and younger brother Kevin.

Carter was the best brother in the world and a loving husband and uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; Sister Karin (KD) and wife Beth Youngblood and sons Campbell and Evan and Evan's wife Bethany; brother Curt and partner Linda; Nephew Cory (who gave Carter such incredible care the last month of his life) and wife Danielle and sons Cody and Conner; niece Kirstin, husband Derek and daughter Marley; brother Kevin's adult children, Melissa, Chad and Cole and their children, cousins Charlotte and Janice; his Montana family, Mona, Arjun and Ruth, Sue, Marmot and Nancy, Marcia & Tom, Mary, Tommy and Kim, Carolynn, Jeffrey and Robin, and so many more friends and family including cousins and the Swedish family and people he loved and who loved him. We all deeply miss him.

Thank you also to Partner’s Home Health Hospice, Pastor Eric, Jen Slayden, and Our Savior's Lutheran church members.
