Carol Virginia Christian Hanson

Carol Virginia Christian Hanson of Missoula died after a five-year battle with metastatic breast cancer on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. Her immense strength was shown in the graceful way she carried herself through her illness, inspiring family and friends.

Carol was born in Havre on July 19, 1943, to Alfred and Virginia Christian. She grew up in Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School in 1961. Carol married William Hanson on July 3, 1965. They made their home in Missoula, where they raised their two children.

Carol had a strong moral code and commitment to family. She was known for her empathy, loyalty and sense of humor. Carol worked 39 years at Missoula Community Medical Center and retired from data processing in 2003.

She is survived by her husband William Hanson, son Erik (Tammie Kelly) Hanson and daughter Kier Hanson-Santos. She is also survived by her brother Alan (Kathy) Christian, sister Connie Thisselle, immediate and extended family.

At Carol's request, no memorial services will be held. Cremation is under the care of the Cremation Society of the Rockies. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Hospice of Missoula.
