Carol Ann Farmer, 86, of Missoula, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Bee Hive Homes of Missoula with her family by her side. Carol was born December 18, 1937, in Dillon, MT to William and Elsie McMannis.
Carol grew up in the Dillon area but had been residing primarily in Missoula for the last 50 years. She married Gordon Williamson Jr. and to their union two children were born Jim and Patty, who she adored, and they blessed her with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They later divorced and she met and married Joseph Farmer.
Carol was devout Christian and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Missoula, where she was part of the Presbyterian Women and assisted with several bazars over the years. She loved to be out in the community assisting where she could. Carol retired from the University of Montana maintenance department where she made many friends in her colleagues and worked along side her husband Joe. Prior to her time there she also worked as a nursing assistant and in the cafeteria at Hellgate High School.
Carol and Joe were a truly compatible pair. They built a cabin in Seeley Lake together and were able to enjoy their time there, the peace allowed her to read many books. She could often be found sewing or quilting when not busy with community activities. Carol was a lover of animals and pets, but most especially dogs, she knew they were wonderful companions.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Farmer in December 2005; her parents William and Elsie as well as her siblings: Wallace "Wally" McMannis, William "Bill" McMannis, Bonnie Burton and Winibel "Wini" Hildreth.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: James "Jim" (Marilyn) Williamson and Patty (Jim Stone) Williamson; grandchildren: Nicole Williams, Bradley (Rachel) Williamson, Jamie (Jake) Ewing, and Corinne (Michael) Purvis; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.
