Obituary for Carol D. Anderson

Beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister & aunt, Carol Denise Anderson, passed away at her home on June 3, 2014.
Carol was born in Kalispell, MT on May 21, 1939 to Elmer Scott Buck and Mary Opal Buck. Carol's father died when she was 3 years old. Carol's mother Opal married Louis Moos in June of 1948 and Carol was adopted at that time. Carol attended St. Matthews grade school until the age of 9, when she moved with her family to Lincoln Nebraska. She completed grades 7-9 at Blessed Sacrament in Lincoln and then moved again with her family to Billings MT and completed her High school education at Billings Central. Carol continued her education at Carroll College in Helena, MT and received her Registered Nursing degree in 1960.
On September 3, 1960, she married Jim Anderson in Billings, MT. The couple lived together in Anaconda until divorcing in 1976. Carol moved to Missoula in 1981.
Carol was preceded in death by her father Elmer Scott Buck; mother Mary Opal Moos; and stepfather Louis Moos.
Survivors include her brother Richard(Eileen) Moos, sister Donna Gornick, children Nancy Anderson, Carl Anderson, Jim Anderson(Robin, Allie), Steve Anderson and Stan (Crista) Anderson. Grandchildren, Scott, Nikki, P.J., Darbi, Hannah, Alyssa and Tanner and several nieces and nephews.
Carol worked many different jobs in her nursing career including the Anaconda job corps, Community hospital of Anaconda, St. James hospital in Butte, The Montana state hospital at Warm springs, Community hospital in Missoula, and St. Patrick hospital in Missoula. Carol also spent several years as a traveling nurse, living in Kennewick Washington.
Upon her return to Missoula she bought a five bedroom house in order to have room for her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed having her grandchildren for sleep overs. A passion of Carol's was watching boxing, she attended boxing tournaments with her children as they grew up, all of them boxing, and in later years always looked forward to boxing events and watched them every chance she got.
Services will be held on Tuesday June 10 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home at 7405 Mullan Road. Condolences for the family may be placed at www.missoulafuneralhomes.com
