Obituary for Candice Ann "Burnzie" Burns

Candice Ann Burns "Burnzie", 58, lost her battle with cancer after a courageous and valiant fight on Fri. Oct. 4, 2013. She passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family and good friends.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1954 in Butte, MT to Ray and Renee Burns. She grew up in Butte with her two brothers and two sisters, the second oldest of the five. She attended St. Patrick's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Butte Central in 1972. Candice began working at the Butte Radio Station and selling insurance. Continuing to work she went on to graduate from Montana Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional and Technical Communications with an option in Public Relations. She settled into her job as Public Relations Director for St. James Community Hospital. She was a very loyal and dedicated employee for 12 years. Working with people was her gift. The Sisters of Charity have always held a special place in her heart.
After moving to Missoula and becoming a certified massage therapist, fulfilling her desire to help others and provide comfort. She opened UB Touched providing therapeutic massages.
In 2007 she became an employee of Missoula County Public Schools. She loved her job as attendance clerk at Hellgate High School, befriending everyone she came in contact with. She generated several friendships and treasured each and every one no matter the intensity.
Candice enjoyed playing tennis, walking her dogs, traveling, spending time with family, interacting with all of her nieces and nephews, hiking with Rosie, camping, get-togethers with friends, taking pictures and of course music or a good movie with a nice bottle of white wine.
It broke our hearts to lose her. She has left us with such wonderful memories. The grace with which she welcomed each challenge, her unique perspective, wisdom, intuition, compassion, empathy, and friendships will truly be missed; especially the twinkle in those big brown eyes and that infectious laugh.
Candice is survived by her loving friend Sandra McCarthy; her daughters Kim (Terry) Cody and Kelly (Mike) Montgomery; their children Nash and Cleo. Her mother Renee Burns of Butte; brothers Ray Burns of Missoula, Paul (Becky) Burns of Butte; sisters Caron (Dave) Skilling of Missoula, Mary (Keith) Winkler of Great Falls. Her aunt Phyllis Burns and aunt Bette (John) Larsen both of Butte.
Nephews Jake and Stephen Burns, Danny and Cody Skilling, Matthew, Michael and Kyle Winkler. Nieces Jenny (Dustin) Armstrong, Miranda (Brad) Long, and Kiri Lynn Winkler. Grand nieces Sidney and grand nephews Braden and Kashius. Numerous cherished and much loved kissing cousins.
