Brian David Shennum was born April 6, 1961, in Spokane, Wash., to Ovie and Rose Shennum. He died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by both parents. Brian had two older sisters Karen and Susan. The family returned to Missoula in 1964 and settled in the Rattlesnake area. Brian attended Rattlesnake Elementary School and graduated from Hellgate High School in 1979. Brian especially enjoyed seeing America as he traveled for Life Touch Portrait Studio photographing children and families. He continued traveling as he drove a car transport semi-truck cross country. Missoula was always his home and Brian found his niche in promotional and garment sales and through this avenue made many friends and acquaintances throughout the state. Brian enjoyed winter and water sports like a Montana native: skiing, snowmobiling, jet skiing and picnicking. Brian explored out of the way places in Montana on his motorcycle making friends along the way. A favorite spot was the Red Lodge/Beartooth area.
Brian is survived by his sisters, Karen Webb of Helena and Susan (Steve) Crooks of Maryland; nieces, Elizabeth (Ben) Sandler of Kalispell and Cristin Crooks; and nephews, Daniel (Rebekah) Webb and Stephen Webb of Missoula; grandniece Rachel Sandler; grandnephews, Isaac and Jacob Sandler and his beloved dog, Carl.
Interment will be private, but family welcomes all friends to a memorial service Saturday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. at Garden City Church, 1100 S. Higgins Ave. See facebook.com/brian.shennum for a memorial page.
