Obituary for Bonnie Jean Duffy (Sanders)

13 hours ago(0) CommentsMISSOULA – "What a beautiful world where angels become mothers and mothers become angels." Bonnie Jean (Sanders) Duffy passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013.

Bonnie was born to John P. Sanders and P. Alice (Saltee) Sanders on July 14, 1931, in Aberdeen, S.D. On May 19, 1949, she married Jerry P. Duffy in Aberdeen where they lived and raised seven children until 1972, when they moved to Alberton, then Missoula in 1976.

Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and an excellent homemaker with a witty sense of humor. She was absolutely devoted to her family and they were everything to her. Most of all, she was a kind and lovely lady who taught us that "kindness does matter." She loved to read, watch old movies, crochet and play bingo when she could. She was a lover of the opera singer Mario Lanza and western music; George Jones was a favorite.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Harvey J. Duffy of Wisconsin; her son, Joseph P. of Missoula; her mother-in-law, Catherine K. Duffy of Missoula; her husband, Jerry; and her sister, Arlene (Ted) Berreth of California. Bonnie is survived by her sister, Betty (Vern) Ferricks of Aberdeen, S.D.; four sons, Harvey (Georgia) of Missoula, Jay of Missoula, Mark of Deer Lodge and Tony (Brenda) of Lolo; two daughters, Debbie (Khanh) Tran of Missoula and Dawn Geiger and her partner Bob Michalson of Stevensville; along with eight grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

We will miss our mother but cherish the memory of her life with us! We love you! Our gratitude and thanks to Hillside Manor. The staff at Hillside was compassionate and professional and made us feel very comfortable, it was our mother's home. So many to thank personally, just know that we noticed the excellent care and appreciated it!

Flowers are always beautiful and nice, should that be your choice. Hospice of Missoula has a wonderful staff and were very caring to Mom. A very tough job they have for sure, they are angels in our eyes. Contributions are always welcome so they can continue their special services.

Memorial services for Bonnie will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Garden City Funeral Home. Please join us after the service in the reception room and continue to celebrate Bonnie's life!

Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
