Beverly "Bev" Ann (McAnally) Grotbo, age 55 of Missoula, MT, passed away March 13, 2015 at her home in Missoula, Montana surrounded by friends and family members after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, having never given up along the way. She fought until the very end and and never lost her sense of humor throughout her battle.
Bev was born in Poplar, MT to Leslie and Arleen (Schneider) McAnally on February 6, 1961. The family later moved to the Flathead Valley and Bev found her love for the great outdoors. She attended and graduated from Bigfork High School in 1979 and was proud to be a Bigfork Valkyrie.
She went on to earn a certificate in surgical technology from Missoula Vo-Tech. She started her career in Helena, MT and in later years moved to Missoula, where she worked for St. Patrick Hospital and then spent the last 18 years at Big Sky Surgery Center as the Lead Surgical Technician.
Bev was a sincere, compassionate and caring person who had such passion for the great outdoors. She and her husband, Alan and daughter, Deidre, had many adventures together. She worked to play. As a family they spent a lot of time seeing God's country, four wheeling, boating, camping and fishing. When it came time to camping the camp had to be perfect. It reached that level after a beer or two.
Bev is survived by Alan, her husband of 30 years and her daughter Deidre (Darko) Zganjer of Daytona Beach, Florida. Her brothers Bill McAnally, John McAnally (Annette), Lynn McAnally (Susan) all of the Flathead Valley. Nieces Penny McAnally and Lori Dankers (Mike) and their family from Washington state. Nieces Rachel Casalegno (Mark), and Janel McAnally, and nephews Tim McAnally (Kendra), Les McAnally (Tanya) and their families all of the Flathead Valley.
Bev was preceded in death by parents Les and Arleen McAnally, niece Jessica McAnally, grandparents and many others.
Funeral services will be held at Garden City Funeral Home at 1705 West Broadway in Missoula, Montana at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. A joyful dance of life will follow.
In lieu of flowers friends have set up an account under Bev Grotbo Donation Fund at US Bank at 2801 Brooks Street in Missoula.
