Obituary for Betty M. Magone (Braaten)

Betty M. (Braaten) Magone was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, on Sept. 22, 1930. She was born to Oswald Braaten and Della (Johnson) Braaten and joined two older brothers, Otto and James Myron at the family home in Edmore, North Dakota. In 1936, a job related position moved the family to Kalispell where the family would make their home. A younger brother Harold joined the family in 1939. Betty attended elementary school and graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell.

She was a confirmed member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Kalispell. Betty was a member of Atonement Lutheran church in Missoula, and her commitment to her Lutheran upbringing was foremost each day of her life.

She is survived by her three beautiful, loving daughters, Gina Ryan, Teresa Benedetti and Ann Johnson from a previous marriage. They were always the pride of her life.

She found the love of her life and soul mate, Daniel L. Magone, they were married at Atonement Lutheran Church in 1967. What better day for an Irish cop to get married than on St. Patrick Day? Dan has four wonderful children that he brought into their marriage, Terry Magone, Steven Magone, Thomas Magone and Dana Henry. She loved these children like they were her own.

She found inner peace and serenity, a gift from her family and friends. Life was good for she and her husband Dan. She felt thankful to wake up each morning to such a blessed life. She believed her wonderful children and grandchildren were truly a gift from God.

While living in Superior for 10 years she was active in the Mineral Community Choir. She was also instrumental in starting the Mineral County Performing Arts Council.

She also loved music, singing, dancing, friends, traveling, MCT Plays, reading and the Red Hats.

They returned to live in Missoula in 2010 for health reasons and so Betty could be closer to her daughters and local grandchildren she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Della; brothers, Otto (Rusty), James Myron (Mike), Harold and her beloved Aunt Myrtle Saverud.

Survivors include her husband Dan; daughters, Gina Ryan (Mike), Teresa Benedetti (Don Moore), Ann Johnson (Mark) and her stepchildren, Terry Magone (Barbara), Steve Magone (Charlotte), Tom Magone (Ritchel) and Dana Henry; grandchildren, Nateese, Katie, Carrie, Christopher, Daniel, Sara, Jeff, Melissa, James, Brenden, Kelly, Aryn, Travis, Gerald, Kaylie, Christina, Alritchmae, Alexa and their extended families. She was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren.
