Obituary for Betty V. Baldwin

MISSOULA – Betty V. Baldwin of Missoula passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. She was born June 14, 1921, in Nampa, Idaho, to Lucy and Howard Snell. She graduated from Nampa High School and the College of Idaho. Betty married her husband, John R. Baldwin in 1943. They were married 55 years.

Following her education, Betty began a long teaching career in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. She loved children and specialized in teaching reading to her students. Betty taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member of Grace Methodist Church. Upon retirement, she and her husband farmed north of Pasco, Wash., until 1985. They moved to Missoula in 1996 to be close to family. John and Betty traveled extensively and spent many hours with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Baldwin; parents; one brother; two sisters and grandson, Wesley Baldwin. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Knight and her husband Robert of Missoula; son John W. Baldwin and his wife Joyce of Cypress, Texas; three grandsons, Robert Knight and his wife Lisa, Scott Knight and his wife Tasha, Christopher Baldwin and Rhonda; six great-grandchildren, Katie, Dakota, Timothy, Zoe, Blake and Jenna and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held for members of the family. Memorials may be sent to the Missoula Food Bank.
