Bernice Shirley Zander of Potomac passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes. She was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Missoula to Henry and Eunice Ramsey. On May 6, 1950, she married James William Zander in Missoula, where the couple lived.
The family lived at Sperry Grade, where she had three milk cows and 500 laying hens. She sold milk and eggs up and down the valley. She then went on to being a proud owner of her own business, Wild West Trading Post in Greenough, on Nov. 1, 1981. Bernice put her heart and soul into the business. Bernice severed breakfast, lunch and dinner all day long to give customers what they wanted.
They had three children together, James, Bobby and Charlie Zander.
Survivors include her brothers, Richard (Jolene) Ramsey and David Fleming; sister, Linda Larson; sons, James and Charlie Zander; grandkids, Mike Zander, Jim (Kathy) Zander, Shawn Glanton and Sara (Andrew); numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren; and very dear friends, Ralph and Tune.
She was preceded in death by Mom and Dad Henry and Eunice Ramsey, brother Mick Ramsey, sister Margret and son Bobby Zander.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, her animals and camping. She also loved spoiling all her grandchildren with the cookies she made.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She took care of her friends and family.
