Obituary for Barry M. Williams

Barry Marshall Williams, 67, of Missoula, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at St. Patrick Hospital.

He was born March 1, 1947, in Salt Lake City to Marshall and Della Williams. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Helena, where Barry's three brothers and a sister joined them. Barry was proud to be an Eagle Scout.

After high school in Helena, he attended and graduated from Western Montana College. After teaching at Helena High, he left to study a year at Exeter University in Exeter, England, as a Rotarian Ambassadorial Scholar. In 1972, he met and married Elaine Edmunds while attending graduate school at the University of Montana.

Barry taught English and coached speech and debate in White Sulphur Springs, Dillon and Missoula until his retirement in 2003. At that time, he served on active duty with his Army Reserve unit in Iraq until March of 2005. He drove school buses until 2013.

Barry was active in Boy Scouts, his Army Reserve unit, American Legion and his church.

Survivors include his wife Elaine of Missoula; a son, Nathan (Maia) of Kalispell; grandchildren Indira and Bodhi; three brothers; a sister; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at First United Methodist Church.
