Barbara Ann Marquez (Nee: Olson), 59, of Missoula, Montana, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 16, 2022 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital, in Missoula, from complications of a spinal cord injury from a previous hospital’s malpractice. She was an amazing mother, sister, daughter, and friend to many.
Barbara was always a hard and devoted worker who started by breaking horses when she was a young girl and as she grew older her interest leaned more towards the world of beauty. She was blessed with three children and shortly after her oldest daughter, Heidi, was born she became a professional cosmetologist and she spent more than 30 years helping others to feel there best and offering free haircuts to her kid’s friends. Until the time of her injury, she worked for Mane Gallery in Missoula.
Two words very much described Barb: active and beautiful. She took great care to be out running, biking and any form of exercise that she could keep up with. After her injury she did her best to keep active and independent. She was also a beautiful person from the inside out. As life had its ups and downs, she remained a beacon of light to her closest friends and family, putting everyone before herself. She was incredibly selfless. The most important thing in Barb’s life was her family, she loved, more than anything, her children and granddaughter.
Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her daughter Holly Rossmiller and Son Austin Johns; granddaughter Ella Mae Overton; mother Donna Devinny; and siblings George Cobell, Joe Hauk, Donna Rainingbird and Bonnie Olson; her canine companion Lily the German Shepherd; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Heidi Olson; father Dale Olson; and brothers Dale Olson Jr and Bill Cobell.
Barbara will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022 at Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory from 12:00- 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 at the Missoula City Cemetery.
