Decorated with the Purple Heart, SPC Austin Jaye (Moore) Mundaniohl, 2 8 years old, of Missoula, Montana passed peacefully in his sleep January 2 3, 2 0 2 2.
Austin was a veteran of Delta Company 2 -7 Infantry Battalion, 1 st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3 rd Infantry Division Fort Stewart, GA where he deployed to Afghanistan and received his Purple Heart medal.
Preceded in death by his father Timothy Mundaniohl and great grandmother “Gigi” Thelma Forsyth.
He was the father of Xander and Maverick Mundaniohl who he loved and devoted his life to.
He is also survived by: His Mother Mariya Moore and her partner, Bill Swensgard. Brothers: Hunter Moore, Colton Moore, Tim and Scott Mundaniohl, Sisters: Kirsten Faber and Kenzie Mundaniohl, Grandmother Pamela Forsyth, Significant Other- Karly Jackson, former wife and close friend, Laci Lake, and family, as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many life-long friends.
Austin was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, Yankee fan and a devoted hunter. He enjoyed hiking and spending all his free time outdoors. Austin was a proud veteran and loved his country as well as the brothers and sisters he served with.
There will be a public viewing Saturday January 29,2022 from 12:00 – 3:30 p.m. at Garden City Funeral Home. 1705 W. Broadway St. Missoula Mt. 59808.
The Grave Side service will take place Monday January 31, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Montana Veteran’s Cemetery, 1911 Tower St. Missoula, MT. 59804
