Obituary for Audrey Grace Braddock-Graham

Audrey Grace Braddock-Graham died in her home on the evening of April 16, 2018, with all her children by her side.

Audrey was born on May 25, 1927, in Grygla, Minnesota, to her parents Elmer and Mabel Hylland. She moved to Spokane, Washington when she was 17 where she found work at National Biscuit Company and where she also met her first husband E. John Braddock, married on Sept. 10, 1948. The second chapter of her life began when she married Elmer Graham Aug. 25, 1989, in neighbor Betty’s backyard in Missoula.

She began her married life as a homemaker and mother and her bookkeeping career as cofounder of 2 J’s Produce Supply. Her career continued with Reserve Street Builders Supply, BLM Purchasing Department during summers in Alaska, and H&R Block. She continued working into her 70s.

Audrey was a Charter Member of Atonement Lutheran Church. She was an excellent seamstress, pianist, and baker. Her understated strength and great resolve shone brightly as she maintained a home for herself and children for many years on her own. Perhaps her greatest skill was that of a selfless caregiver which showed throughout her life with family and friends, but most especially while caring for Elmer after his stroke. Mom’s greatest enjoyments in life were her family, friends and faith.

Audrey is survived by her sons Mark (Kathy), Richard (Ruth), Larry (Brenda), and daughter Karen (Bruce); her brother Alden (Lois), 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Michael John, first husband John, and second husband Elmer. She also leaves behind many dear friends, including some very special neighbors Betty & Dan, Bob & Jeanette, and Bob & Ladonna.

The family is planning an early summer memorial service, when Elmer returns from “college”. He had donated his body for research and is expected to “graduate” in late June when we can say goodbye to them together, as they would have wished. The date and time will be announced at a later date with a posting in the Missoulian. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Atonement Lutheran Church and/or Hospice of Missoula.
