Angela Marie Richie Murphy
Angela Marie Richie Murphy, 58, passed away November 13, 2023, in Ovando, Montana.
She was born on March 4, 1965, in Hamilton MT to Kathleen Loesch Richie and George Jay Richie. In her youth Angela participated in the family wagon trains and working colts with her grandfather Val. She loved spending time in the Bitterroot and Mission Valleys. She was active in local 4-H and FFA groups, Bitterroot Gymkhana, and the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit. She was a retiree with the Federal Forest service as a personnel director where she enjoyed spending her time at the smokejumper base. She often worked two to three jobs to make ends meet.
Angela married Gordon Murphy on July 22, 1995, in Stevensville, MT and moved to Gordon’s family ranch in Ovando, MT. Gordon and Angela each brought two children to their marriage and together they added two more daughters to their family. For the last 28 years, they built their life together on the family ranch.
Angela was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her horses and was a phenomenal horseman and trainer. She loved music, dancing, and her craftwork including leatherwork, beadwork that was passed down from her grandmother Harriet and as well as being an amazing seamstress. She was very interested in her ancestry and genealogy; she loved learning about her heritage and the Osage language along with American sign language. She was a devoted homemaker for her family and was always ready to lend a hand to everyone she could. She was active in her church and was a CCD instructor.
Angela is preceded in death by her parents Jay and Kathleen Richie, and other loved ones.
Survivors include her husband Gordon Murphy, and their children; Joseph Cody, Chance Tyrell (Andrea), Cody Lee (Denisse), Kyani Jimy-Dee (Roy), Shy Ann and Tyana Jo (Timothy), and their families; her brother William (Bill) Richie (Estal), and her sister Cami Cote (Neal). Along with many other loved ones. Her grandchildren include Tahlayla, Skyleigh, Wyatt, Kashlea, Cooper, Beau, Liam, Mila, Sadie, and many more adopted grandchildren.
