Angela DiNenna

February 11, 1942 — March 17, 2025

Missoula

Angela Elizabeth DiNenna, 83 of Missoula, MT (formally of Charleston, SC) passed away peacefully March 17th, 2025, at Providence St Patrick's Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was born February 11,1942 in Boston, Massachusetts to Carmine and Carolina DiNenna. As a young girl she often visited her uncle's farm in Pennsylvania, she had fond memories of feeding chickens and other chores. She often spoke of these fond memories on the farm.

As the daughter of Immigrants, her first language was Italian and didn't learn English until kindergarten. Despite this she graduated High School at 17 and went on later in life to earn a degree in language at Community College of Vt. Being able to speak 4 languages served her well in her 38-year career with Immigration and Naturalization Service.

In 1961 She married Donald Strickland, Sr and settled in Davisville, RI where they started their family giving birth to her first son, Donnie in 1963. They later moved to Colchester, Vermont where she gave birth to her son Will.

During her career with the INS that began in Davisville, she worked in Burlington and St. Albans, Vt. graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga. (as a marksman) becoming a Border Inspector at stations on the Vt and NY Canadian border. She later moved to posts in Toronto, Canada, Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC where she lived for 25 years. One of her careers highlights was a detail to Shannon, Ireland for 9 months where she drove across Europe to visit her father in Naples, Italy.

Soon after her retirement in 2001 she became a member of The So Carolina Council of Catholic Women and was awarded Woman of the Year in 2015. She was an extra ordinary minister of the Holy Communion, and it was a great honor for her to bring communion to the elderly at home and in nursing homes. She was also a longtime volunteer at Roper St Francis hospital.

She enjoyed gardening, especially her rose bushes and the family vegetable garden. An excellent cook and baker, her family never lacked a great meal.

She was loving wife, mom, nana and granna. Her love for the lord radiated from her. She is survived by her Brother Salvatore DiNenna and wife Lorraine, sons Donnie Strickland of Couer d'Alene, ID. and Will Strickland and wife Linda of Missoula, MT., grandsons Ryan Strickland, Kyle Strickland and wife Kali, Sean Strickland of Missoula and granddaughter Katherine Strickland of Renton, WA., great grandchildren Thomas and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Strickland as well as her extended family in greater Seatle, WA.
