Andrew ‘Andy’ Joseph DiSalvatore, 42, beloved son, father, and friend passed away suddenly on January 30th, 2024, at Community Medical Center from a rare severe infection that his body was just unable to fight.
Andy was born on May 28, 1981, in Great Falls, Montana to Sue A. Vance and Joseph DiSalvatore. Andy spent his childhood years in Great Falls, Helena and Missoula, Montana. He graduated from Sentinel High School in 1999. At that time, he was gifted a light green Volkswagen Bug from his Grandpa Vance and was proud of that car his entire life. After high school, Andy attended the University of Great Falls on a basketball scholarship and in his words “Excelled at Drinking”. One of his greatest accomplishments was to make the choice to kick his drinking in May of 2017.
When his college years at UGF came to an end he returned to Missoula to continue his education in Physics and Astronomy. Andy was a scientist through and through. He would speak to anyone and everyone that would listen about his passion. One that he wished to pass on to everyone he knew, especially his children.
Anyone that knew Andy, knew he was an instant friend and support that you would never let go of. Many of his friendships were found while participating in one of his many sporting activities; whether it be the softball field, basketball court or golf course. There was rarely a day that you couldn’t find him reaching out to get together. The #14 will live on in all the lives of everyone that took the field with him during fastpitch or lob ball games. Basketball courts in Missoula will be a little lonelier without him on the court and those tee boxes will have far less divots.
Whether on the field or off, when Andy loved, he loved hard and fast and with all that he was. He never wanted to see anyone around him hurt and would give all of himself to be sure they didn’t. Those he loved the most were his four beautiful children, Alyson, Parker, Oaklynn, and Mason. His beautiful heart will live on in all of them and everyone one else who loved him.
Andy is survived by the love of his life Sara and their son Mason and bonus children Elyce & Cejay, his son Parker, daughter Oaklynn and their mom Ellen (Nick), daughter Alyson, his mother Sue Vance all of Missoula, Uncle Mike Vance (Barb) of Arizona, Aunt Shawna Renville of Great Falls, Uncle Scot Renville of Glasgow, Aunt Debbie Vance of Great Falls, cousins Holly Vance, of Seattle, Heather Desch (Jacob & Children) of Portland, Liz Vance of Great Falls, Bryce Vance of Bozeman, Seth Renville of Billings, Samuel Renville of Glasgow, father and step-mom, Joe and Dawn DiSalvatore of Boston, brother Dustin Ray Smith (Lisa) of Kentucky, brother Chris (Addie & Children) of Great Falls, sister Dari (John), grandmother Pegi DiSalvatore, Aunt Traci DiSalvatore, Uncle Rick DiSalvatore (Lisa), Uncle Bob DiSalvatore (Carolyn), Uncle Toni DiSalvatore (Linda), cousins Mike DiSalvatore (Lindsay), Ellen DiSalvatore, Lauren, DiSalvatore, Mike DiSalvatore, Linny DiSalvatore all of Boston, and numerous friends and extended family.
