Missoula - Amanda Rebecca Ann "Mandy" Henson passed away Monday, April 8, 2013. She was born October 16, 1973 in Helena, Montana to John and Kathy Henson.
Mandy moved with her family to Superior, Montana when she was three months old and graduated from Superior High School in 1992. After graduation, she attended the University of Montana where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
She worked as a receptionist and legal secretary for several law firms in Missoula.
Mandy's radiant smile lit up every room she walked into, and her lively sense of humor and vivacious personality captivated her family and friends alike. She had a keen since of style and fashion, as well as a natural gift for decorating and interior design. She was kind and generous and loved her three nieces unconditionally. Animals were naturally drawn to her, and she rescued numerous dogs and cats which she loved with all of her heart, including her most recent kitten, Henry. She also loved NASCAR (particularly Dale Jr.) and the Montana Grizzlies.
Of all of the things Mandy cherished in this life, her family was the most important. She was extremely proud to be part of the Henson and Summers family, whose roots stretch from Kentucky and Missouri to Montana. The feeling was mutual: we were proud to call her ours and losing her has left a huge hole in all of our hearts.
Mandy was preceded in death by her grandparents Edward and Roselyn Summers and J. D. and Cora Henson. She is survived by her father John Henson (Brenda) of Superior, Montana; her mother Kathy Monzie (John) of Missoula, Montana; her brother Jed Henson (D'Arcy) of Waxhaw, North Carolina; and her nieces Hillary Stevens, Betty Henson and Ruby Henson.
To honor Mandy's memory, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Western Montana or AniMeals in Missoula, Montana.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1400 Gerald Avenue, Missoula, Montana. A reception will follow in the community center on the lower level of the church.
Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with the arrangements.
