Allen M. Trimp

– After a year and a half of battling mesothelioma, Allen M. Trimp, 76, of Missoula passed away May 16th (Armed Forces Day) at St. Patricks Hospital. Al was born May 3, 1939 in Missoula to Frank and Lucy Trimp. Al spent his childhood in the Northwest, and graduated in 1957 from Rathdrum High School in Idaho. Following high school he joined the Navy, serving 4 years aboard the U.S.S. Shangri-La as a Machinist Mate. He then returned home to the Coeur d' Alene area and married Ann Tosh in 1962. They divorced in Helena, Montana in 1983.
Al settled in Missoula once again in 1983, marrying Nancy Farmer-Hinther in 1984. He was working driving buses for Rimrock Stages and making friends with all of his passengers. Retiring from bus driving in 2000, he started working at Safeway fuel station, quickly becoming the manager. He once again made friends with all his customers and coworkers.
Al enjoyed people, always having a big hug, a laugh and a smile for everyone. He enjoyed wood working, "wrenching" on all types of vehicles, and puttering around the house. In his younger days, he spent many weekends with his brother Randy, drag racing at the Deer Park Raceway in the Spokane area.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 30 years; children Rick (Carolyn) Trimp(Calgary), Ron (Cindy) Trimp (Helena), Russell Trimp(San Diego Naval Base), and Rebecca (Matt) Jones(Camp Foster Naval Hospital, Okinawa); step-children Brian (Natalie) Hinther(Arlee) and LeeAnn (Tye) Habel(Great Falls); grand children- Kyle, Parker, Emily, Calvin, Trevor, Russell Jr, Stone, Garrison, Marshall, Carys and Lola; sisters Nikki (Cliff) Anderson and Gwynn Trimp and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Randy.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 1:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 7405 Mullan Road, Missoula, MT 59808.
